Where to start?
From buying a good coffee machine. The one made of decent materials will thank you both for the better taste of the brew and for the fact that it will not negatively affect our health - remember that the elements of the device are subjected to temperature changes, they are in contact with coffee and water. That is why it is worth choosing aluminium or steel. We consistently recommend equipment from reliable manufacturers, such as Bialetti.
Bigger is better...
In this case, not necessarily. Choose a size of appliance that fully meets your domestic needs. After all, you cannot brew half the volume of a coffee machine. So don't decide on a 6-cup coffee machine (usually 1 cup = one espresso cup) just because the in-laws come to visit once every six months; if you only drink coffee with your wife every day, you probably won't drink the entire brew. Especially as coffee from a coffee machine is characterised by a fair amount of flavour intensity!
No more talking, let's brew!
In order for our miracle appliance to work, it needs to be placed on a dedicated heat source - a gas or induction cooker. So remember to match the equipment to the cooker you have.
Now that the coffee machine has been chosen, let's brew. How do you make the perfect coffee in a coffee machine? Grind the beans quite finely - coarser than for espresso, but definitely finer than for a drip.
You can pour hot water - NOT boiling water, of course - into the cafe. This will reduce the brewing time, the coffee will not burn from the cafe heating up. This in turn will result in better tasting coffee and less perceptible bitterness.
You pour the water to the point marked with a clear line. If your coffee machine does not have such a border, we suggest that the line mentioned should run slightly below the safety valve.
And a matter just as important as the coffee machine itself - COFFEE. Fresh beans dedicated to espresso will work exceptionally well here. But not only! Our extensive coffee story allows us to confidently say that it is worth using beans dedicated also to alternative methods of brewing coffee in a coffee machine. We particularly recommend Blend No.2, Brazil Mogiana or Dolce.
Let's finally finish this brew!
Cap the top and place on the cooker, on low burner power. Keep the lid open. This will allow you to control the brewing process. If you have used hot water, your coffee should be flowing after just a minute or two, in a slow, steady stream. As soon as you see that the coffee has filled the top third of the cafe, remove the cafe from the heat source and wait for the extraction process to finish.
If you want to be more precise you can use a scale and weigh the amount of coffee poured into the strainer, and the resulting brew should be 2-3 times the amount of coffee ground.
